Reasons why we always do a laser hair removal consultation...

It’s about making sure that we understand your skin type, how your skin reacts to the sun, and any medication you use, or health issues you have, so that we can create a safe treatment plan just for you and get the best results possible.

A consultation and patch test is a safety check – and we’re all about ensuring that we offer the best and safest experience for all our customers.  It gives you the chance to ask questions, to experience how laser treatment feels and be sure that you are totally comfortable with the whole process. That means that when you do come in for your sessions, it will be super-quick, no fuss and you’ll be getting on with the rest of your day in no time at all.

Step 1 – Welcome to Healing Oasis Wellness and Laser Clinic .. Firstly, if you’ve never visited us before it’s a chance to see our clinic and meet the team. We’re really proud of our clinic! It’s so easy to park right outside the door and we’ve made the décor super-relaxing. Our aim is to provide a little oasis of calm so that you always leave us feeling great.

Step 2 – We’re here to listen .. At your consultation we’ll be listening really carefully to you about what you want to achieve, and how you currently remove unwanted hair. We’ll explain all about the laser technology and a few simple dos and don’ts that will make your future treatments as effective as possible. Ask us any questions about laser hair removal technology. We just love talking about it!

Step 3 – Checking your skin and hair type .. Your natural coloring, the color of your hair and skin, will have an impact on the laser hair removal treatment plan that we design just for you. Laser energy targets the color (or pigment) in your hair, so we have to program the machine settings to get the best results for different skin and hair types. Our technician will look at the areas you want treating and ask you how easily you tan or burn in the sun. The Candela GentleMax Pro Laser or Clarity II Laser, which we use, has lots of options and settings to ensure that laser treatment is safe and effective for all skin and hair types. The information we learn at your consultation helps us set the machine correctly for you at your first full appointment.

Step 4 – A health questionnaire .. We will give you a health questionnaire to complete. Everything you tell us is completely confidential – just as it would be if you visited a hospital or your doctor. We need to know about your medical history and any medications you are taking. There are a handful of health conditions which might mean it’s not the right time for you to have laser hair removal. Safety is always our prime concern, but we also want to make sure that you get the very best results in the quickest time. If there is a reason why laser hair removal won’t work very well, we’ll tell you.

Step 5 – The patch test .. We think that before you commit to a course of treatments, you need to know how it feels and experience the results. Our technician will shave a small area of skin on the part of your face or body that you want treated and then use the laser on that area. In the unlikely event that your skin does react, any problems will be minimal because only a small area of skin has been treated. A patch test is also a way for the technician to check if the laser settings need adjusting for future appointments to get the very best results for you. We’ll speak to you in two days after your patch test and get your feedback.

Step 6 – We’re all done! So, you’ve sailed through the one-to-one laser hair removal consultation and now you can look forward to the treatments that are going to take away the stress and hard work of staying hair-free. We think it’s well worth spending that time to make sure that laser hair removal is right for you, right now, and to help you get the best results.

Laser Hair Removal Q&A:

Please make sure you shave 24-48 hours before your appointment. You want to remove as much hair as possible so that it doesn’t absorb most of the laser’s energy. It is also important that you don’t wax for at least 4-6 weeks before your treatment.

Our laser practitioner will use a small hand piece to deliver an intense but gentle burst of energy, along with a burst of cryogen onto targeted areas of the skin to remove unwanted hair.

Absolutely! Many laser hair removal treatments don’t cater to all skin types, but our Gentle Max Pro Hair Removal Laser and Clarity II are for ALL skin tones.

A treatment can take as little as 10 minutes to as long as an hour, depending on the treatment area and the condition being treated. For examples both legs can often be treated in as few as 15 minutes and underarms lcan be treated in less than 10 minutes.

It really depends on your age, hair type and the area to be treated. Multiple treatments are required to achieve the full hair removal effect. The hairs on your body are not always at the same stage of growth, so you’ll need to undergo a few treatments, an average of 6-8 weeks apart, to catch them all in the growth stage. For our GentleMax Pro Laser and Clarity II Laser, in general, 4-8 treatments will achieve the desired result!

For about 6 weeks prior to treatment, you should avoid plucking, electrolysis or waxing. On the day of your treatment, skin should be clean-shaven and thoroughly cleansed of any makeup, creams, oils, topical anesthetics or self-tanning products. Do not tan for 2 weeks prior to your treatment. If you will be out in the sun, apply sunblock (SPF 30 or above) during this time.
Do not expose the treatment area to sunlight or tanning booth light prior to or immediately after treatment. We will cover this, and all other topics, in great detail during your free consultation.

A cool compress or gel pack may be applied for additional comfort after your treatment. Any redness or swelling should resolve in a few hours.

After your laser treatment, prevent sun exposure by applying sunblock (SPF 30 or above). In the first few days after treatment, don’t scrub or rinse the treated areas with abrasive skin cleansers. Our laser practitioner may advise additional precautions and provide you with an aftercare card!

Side effects are rare and these usually do not last more than a few days. Our laser practitioner will discuss possible side effects, in detail, during your free consultation.
